Support &
Advice Group
Caregivers are paired with the current Executive Director, Tatiana Rodriguez, an interim parent advocate. This direct involvement allows for close collaboration and representation of caregiver perspectives at the leadership level.
Community Partnerships
Family Matters 1st collaborates with community partners in programming and research. This involvement allows caregivers to participate in research initiatives and programs, further integrating their perspectives into the organization's work.
Bi-weekly support groups and advice sessions are organized, allowing caregivers to share their stories and gain community support from experienced peers. This offers emotional support and ensures their voices are heard within the organization.
Conference
Participation
The organization also provides opportunities for caregivers to attend conferences, network, and learn about relevant movements. This exposure empowers them with knowledge and connections to contribute effectively to the cause, especially in the context of abolition and anti-racism.
Advocacy
Group
Caregivers are actively engaged in shaping the organization's advocacy agenda, strategies, and community partnerships. Their suggestions and insights are sought during these sessions, making them integral to decision-making.
